Brief history of the establishment of Ajase-Ipo Comprehensive High School, Ajase-Ipo
The school was established by Ajase Ipo indigenes both living in Lagos and in other parts of Nigeria through communal efforts in 1969.
At inception, the school was named Igbomina Secondary Grammar School (ISGS). Later years, it was changed to Ajase Ipo High School (AHS) and later renamed as Ajase-Ipo Comprehensive High School (ACHS), its present name.
The first set of students made up of 25 boys and 11 girls resumed for academic session on 30th January, 1969. All the students were all on full boarding at a temporary site which was formally an Home Economic Center belonging to Muslim Community School along Ajase Ipo/Ilorin Road.
The entry examination and interview for the first admitted students were conducted by the foundation Principal, Chief Timothy Atoyebi Adesoye a native of Inisa a town in Odo-Otin Local Government of Osun State. The first set of teachers (tutors) and administrative staff were

- Buraimoh A Bamigbade – Geography Tutor
- J O Bojuwoye – Science Tutor/Hostels Master
- Peter B Onirinwa – English Language/Literature Tutor
- Bashiru A Musa – General Mathematics Tutor
- Rashidi Oluokun – Secretary/Bursar
- Pa Bakare – Watchman/Night Guard.
- Mrs M Balogun – Head Cook
- Mrs Olarewaju – Cook.
The foundation stones of 4 main buildings (A Boys Hostel, A Girls Hostel, A Dining Hall and a block of 6 classrooms) at the permanent site were laid on the 29th of May, 1969.
The Military Governor of Kwara State, Lt col David Bamigboye visited the school on the 23rd of June, 1969 and was conducted round both the temporary and proposed permanent sites.
On the 8th of December, 1969, the first Parents/Teachers Association meeting was held with End-of-Year prize giving ceremony.
On the 9th of January 1970, the school moved to its permanent and present site along Ajase Ipo/Offa Road. The buildings already constructed and completed for the use of the students and staff then were Administrative Block, a Block of six classrooms, Principal’s Quarter, two separate blocks as Male and Female Hostels with toilets, a block of Physics/Biology and Chemistry Laboratories. Later in that same year, 1970, the foundation stone of Dining Hall which doubles as Multipurpose Hall was laid while fillings was done by the students.
For effective and efficient supervision of the activities of the management of the school, a Board of Gorvenors was put in place to oversee the school.
Raheem Yahaya was the first Senior/Head Boy while Taibat Bello was the first Senior/Head Girl.
The first set of students graduated in 1973.
